Our project “from learners to teachers – empowering gifted young people through mentoring, tutoring and educational work (Empower the Young)” supports gifted young people by involving them in the educational offerings of our association Initiative für Hochbegabung e.V. In doing so, they develop their individual potential and get to know mentoring and pedagogy through genuine hands-on experience.

“Empower the Young” specifically supports gifted young people aged between 13 and 30 within our association by involving them in running courses and in a changing role from learner to teacher. Through a unique mentoring and tutor concept, young people from the age of 13 gain teaching experience early on, develop their own educational courses and independently take on changing roles as mentors, co-tutors and finally fully independent tutors. In doing so they network with one another and with external institutions and gain the unique experience of a teaching role in the transitional phase between school and career or university.

In doing so, we rely on project-based educational work, child-centred learning without performance pressure and open course design. Our approach sustainably imparts methodological, social and pedagogical skills that contribute to personal development. This empowers young people not only to pass on their knowledge effectively and sustainably, but also to engage in critical reflection, teamwork and creative problem-solving.
